Subject: Red-Shafted Woodpeckers at our feeders

We've had an flicker at our feeders since last fall, who comes every day
for suet and peanuts. Well, as of Tuesday, she seems to have found herself
a friend - a boyfriend. 'Lucy' has been bringing a male with her every day
since Tuesday to visit the feeders. Is this about the time of year when
they normally start pairing up, or is this El Nino, or do flickers mate for
life, and 'Ricky' just decided to come with?
