Turkey hunters use "Owl-calls" to locate the birds during the evening
roosting and come back early in the next morning before the turkeys leave
the roost. The calls will also bring a response during the daytime, the
calls are those of the Barred Owl. Available in the catalogs of sporting
goods companies such as BASS PRO or CABELA'S for about $8. I have heard
BARRED OWLS calling at midday, in late April, while in the Everglades.
