Rose and I went up around Rockport, WA to see eagles and get some other
birding in as well. The local news reports about the Bald Eagle festival
on the new recently failed to mention that most of the eagles are *gone* by
the time the festival starts (this is intentional). However, we did get to
see some. Two adults, and one juvenile, as well as a juvenile we were
unable to positively identify as a bald eagle or golden eagle.

Lots of ravens around, and while stopped observing one particularly close
to the road (just east of the turnoff onto 20 from SR 530 on the 'bridge')
we also got to see three female common mergansers (a new one for both of
us), a female hooded merganser, a female Barrow's Goldeneye (also a new one
for us), and some buffleheads. Not a whole lot of birds to be seen, but
still worth the 1 1/2 hour drive and any time I get to add a couple species
to the list counts as a success to me. 8-)
