February 9, 3:06 pm. Hi. This is Steve Hammel. On Wednesday January 28th
according to the Audubon book , there was a field trip to Reifel Refuge. If
anybody on that trip would care to call the BirdBox and leave a report of what
you saw it would be appraciated. I'm going to be taking a another tripup there
this next weekend and wondering what was out.

February 9, 2:21 pm. Hello, this is Scott Atkinson. Yesterday, February
8th, I travelled up between 8 and 9 am was covering the ares about 1 and a
half miles south of the T-junction of the Bayview-Ediston Rd where Harold
Wretland previously reported an immature RED-SHOULDERED HAWK. I did locate
what apparently was the bird that he was looking at. I made that conclusion,
especially after talking to him today about it. Very interesting plumage bird,
but evidently not a RED -SHOULDERED HAWK. Bird was/had vertical streaking in
the upper breast area, vertical red streaking, that is.Immediately belos that
in the central breast area, a unique, sort of small diamond, dark diamond
shaped spots. Below which in the lower breast/belly white, very clean white.
However when the bird flew pure red tail so just a very odd buteo but not a
RED-SHOULDERED. There was also in the area a very nice, handsome HARLAN'S
HAWK. That's all.

February 9, 9:45 am The following message was received yesterday evening
from Joel Jorgenson, who is visiting from Nebraska, local phone number till

LEGGED KITTIWAKES out beyond Tatoosh Island. Thousands of COMMON MURRES along

7th at Neah Bay, one GLAUCOUS GULL that appeared to be near adult, with the
basel half of the bill pink. And also a possible GLAUCOUS-WINGED X GLAUCOUS
hybrid. This first year bird looked like a very pale GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL with
extensive pinkish on the basel 2/3d of the bill. Uh, no sign of the CRESTED
CARACARA at Neah Bay. At Port Angeles harbor on the 7th, a PEREGRINE FALCON
and a good mix of water birds. And finally, on February 8th, the LITTLE GULL
was seen at American Lake in Pierce County. Thanks

February 9, 9;28 am. Hi, this is Larry Goldstein at (360) 754-1205. while
birding at American Lake on Saturday, the 7th of February, I finally saw the
LITTLE GULL. As I was scopeing the lake the bird distinguished itself by its
rounded wingtips which were quite evident in comparison to its companion
BONAPARTE'S GULLS . And secondly had a good look at the very dark underwings.
Good luck.
