Thanks Richard.

Actually the request should be to NEVER ATTACH *formatted* FILES. This
includes graphics like the one Richard attached, WORD documents, and HTML
files. When the listprocessor puts together the digest message it encodes
these formatted attachments into ASCII characters. Those receiving the
digest message today received about *24 PAGES* of it looking like this:

Content-transfer-encoding: base64
/9j/4AAQSkZJRgABAQEAlgCWAAD//gCUVlQtQ29tcHJlc3MgKHRtKSBYaW5nIFRlY2hub2xv
Z3kgQ29ycC4AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
AAAAAAAAAAD/2wCEAAwICQoJBwwKCQoNDAwOEh4TEhAQEiQaGxUeKyYtLSomKikwNkU6MDNB
MykqPFE8QUdJTU5NLjlUWlRLWkVLTUoBDA0NEg8SIxMTI0oxKjFKSkpKSkpKSkpKSkpKSkpK
SkpKSkpKSkpKSkpKSkpKSkpKSkpKSkpKSkpKSkpKSkpKSv/AABEIAWcBZQMBIQACEQEDEQH/

etc. etc. etc.

Pure (unformatted) text attachments are OK.

If you'd like to share a graphic or a formatted document feel free to
advertise it on Tweeters and then send individual copies out to your
respondents. Alternatively you might put it on the Web and advertise it's
Web address.

Thanks for your help in keeping our list running smoothly,
