Michellewrote about funny-looking geese at Nisqually. I just saw them the
other day, and I'm pretty sure they are hybrids between a Canada Goose and a
domestic (presumably Greylag) goose, probably a single family as she
surmised. There are actually quite a few such birds in this area.

This, to me, is another clear indication of the transmogrification of the
Canada Goose, whose time as a wilderness symbol was limited (as wilderness
goes down the tube), into one of our most obvious urban symbols. Hybridizing
with other urban birds comes with the territory, and I advise all of you to
keep your eyes peeled for Canada Goose x starling hybrids.
