update.

The featured birds for today's report are: CLARK'S GREBE and REDHEAD.

Sightings for Thursday, February 12:

The CLARK'S GREBE was just southwest of the Agar and Inglis intersection on
Sea Island in Richmond.

A PEREGRINE FALCON was flying around in South Surrey between 24th and 26th
Avenue and 148th and 152nd Street.

A BARN SWALLOW was seen flying along the middle arm of the Fraser, just
north of the Dinesmore Bridge. This is very early for this species.

1 BLACK OYSTERCATCHER was seen on the seawall south of Third Beach. The
COMMON EIDER was seen last Saturday, also off the Seawall and is not a
victim of the oil spill.

A GLAUCOUS GULL and 3 WESTERN GULLS were seen off Burn's Drive at the
interchange of Highway 99 and Highway 10.

A male HAIRY WOODPECKER was seen on Sea Island in the old Cora Brown

this location. Also seen were a NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL and a BARN OWL.

At Iona Island, 8000+ SCOTERS, mostly SURF, were seen off the south jetty,
along with 300 OLDSQUAW, 300 RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS and 2 BONAPARTE'S

seen in the inner harbour in Stanley Park.

Tuesday, February 10:

The XANTUS' HUMMINGBIRD continues to be seen at 221 2nd Avenue in Gibsons,
but the bird is coming less frequently and is probably ranging around the
neighborhood and foraging more on its own.

After about a week's abscence the YELLOW-BILLED LOON was re-located at the
foot of Sullivan in Crescent Beach.

CRESTED MYNA were seen under the Cambie Street Bridge at 1st and Wylie and
in a parking lot beside a 7-11 store along Accroid road, 1/2 block east of
No. 3 Road in Richmond.

In a late report for Sunday, 2 SWAMP SPARROWS were seen at Reifel Refuge
near the observation tower.
