We're so fortunate in the united states to find coffee at hours compatable
with birding. This isn't the case in many parts of the world. Two years
ago in Mexico we got up very early to see flamingos and could not find
any coffee for sale anywhere. No 7-11's or any other stop-and-robs, no
starbucks, no bakeries. By the end of our day, I had a ripping
caffiene-withdrawl headache which interfered with enjoying truly
magnificant birds. I now carry canned coffee drinks when
traveling to out of the way places in case we cannot get the morning
coffee. These have kept me headache free on quite a few mornings - cheap
headache prevention. I know I probably drink too much coffee but bird
trips are not a good time to go "cold turkey."
