.............Visited Ridgefield NWR....the River"S" unit just south of
Ridgefield, Wash. The lakes and wetlands were pretty overflowing with
water, so the waterfowl were pretty well spread out. Here's a list of
observed birds:
Blue Herons(of coarse 'very hungry'!!!!!)
Canada Geese(zillions!!!!)
Red-winged BlackbirdMarsh Wrens
Mallards
a pair of mature Bald Eagle
Red-tailed Hawks
a Kestral
Swans(hundreds.....some Trumpeters, mostly Tundra)
Widgeons
Buffleheads
Common Merganser
Lesser Scaup
Am. Coots(everywheres!!!!!!!!)
No. Shovelers
Green-winged Teals
Gadwalls
Ruddy Ducks
Pied-billed Grebes
Canvasbacks(several)
Robins
Crows

......Beavers, Nutrias, and any other birds and wildlife I didn't see in
my 2-hour visit!!!!!!!!!!!! Going to the coast at Long Beach, Wash. area
this weekend, so I will report next Monday on my first-time ever visit
to Nisqually NWR (10 miles east of Olympia, Wash. on the south shore of
Puget Sound)......a gorgeous day, and an equally gorgeous area!!!!!!!!!
