This is the Vancouver Bird Alert for Friday February 20, Saturday 8:00 am
update.

The featured birds for today's report are SLATY-BACKED GULL, YELLOW-BILLED
LOON and HUTTON'S VIREO. There were no reports Friday for the SAGE SPARROW
seen from the 16th to the 19th in Victoria on Vancouver Island.

Sightings for Friday February 20:

A SLATY-BACKED GULL was seen on Burns Drive which is close to the Highway
99 and Highway 10 interchange in Delta.

A YELLOW-BILLED LOON was seen in Boundary Bay along with 75 Brant.

3 HUTTON'S VIREO were in the Caufield area of West Vancouver: one on Willow
Place off Willow Creek Road; one on Beacon Lane at the entrance to
Lighthouse Park; and one at Dale and Marine Drive.

Thursday, February 19:

The SAGE SPARROW was again seen in Victoria on Vancouver Island on Dallas
Road at the south end of Government Road. The bird is usually seen on a
grass slope below the duck pond and just above a cement walk. The bird is
not shy and appears to be of the interior race. For further updates on this
bird please call the Victoria Rare Bird Alert at 250-592-3381.

Locally, the CLARK'S GREBE was seen west of Agar and Inglis on Sea island
opposite gate 77, just before the Coast Guard fence. A SNOWY OWL was also
in the area and later flew towards the airport.

Also on Sea Island, an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was seen at the old Cory
Brown sub-division.

100 BRANT were seen off the tip of the Tsawwassen Ferry jetty.

Wednesday February 18:

A SAGE SPARROW was seen in Victoria and a third winter Slaty-backed gull
was seen on the turf farm on Bench Road at Phibbs Road, just south of
Duncan, on Vancouver Island.

The HOODED ORIOLE was last seen in Terrace on Tuesday morning.

Locally, a BLACK OYSTERCATCHER was seen on the Tsawwassen Jetty. Also in
the area were 7 BRANT .

3 CRESTED MYNA were seen on 1st and Whylie near the Cambie Street Bridge.
