Pursuant to Richard Rowlett's query on bins and scopes, in Vancouver BC you
might want to try Harrison Co. at 2574 Granville St. (just S of G'ville and
W. Broadway, E side up on a little skyway raised above street level) and
check out their Fujinon Marine 7x50's, model WPC-XL: fogproof/waterproof
porro-prisms, with compass, rangefinder, and floatstrap; they're very light,
*especially* for 7x50's, which tend to be quite heavy, and they *float*!
Tried 'em out, found their low-light performance quite good (what else for
7x50's?) and that they felt good in the hand. C$369.00. That's a *really*
good price. Don't know if there's anything that would qualify a good
recommendation.

Over to the Vancouver Telescope Center, 102-2220 W B'way, just 1 block W of
Arbutus and actually a little bit around the corner on Yew St. to look at
the new 82mm Kowa (the feel of the finish is unusual), but was pretty
impressed by the Ranger scope there, great optics, ED glass and
comparatively *very* cheap. Don't know if FP/WP.
