I also had a RED-SHOULDERED HAWK in the Malhuer Area. I photographed one
at Page Springs Campground, on July 19, 1990. What alerted me to this
bird were the flocks of CLIFF SWALLOWS that would fly up from the cliff
face at the North end of the campground in obvious distress. When I
checked to see the cause of the commotion I found the hawk flying up to
the nest area trying to either capture the adults at the nests or preying
on nestlings. This behavior continued for the three days I was there.
