Hello, this is Portland Audubon Society's Rare Bird Report. This
recording was made Thursday February 26. If you have anything to add call
Harry Nehls at 233-3976.

A light brown GYRFALCON was at Finley NWR February 21. It was not
relocated. Another pale brown Gyr was along Lower River Road, north of
Vancouver February 22.

Two male COSTA'S HUMMINGBIRDS are now coming to the feeder in Grants Pass
where one has been wintering.

The SLATY-BACKED GULL continues to be seen at the Pellet Plant on Sauvie
Island. A possible ICELAND GULL was reported February 22 along Highway 18
near Otis Junction in northern Lincoln County. This needs verification.

A TRUMPETER SWAN was in the Coquille Valley February. Many HEERMANN'S
GULLS and BONAPARTE'S GULLS continue to be seen along the coast. A few
RED PHALAROPES and BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES are still showing up close to
shore.

The MOCKINGBIRD is still being seen in Bay City and the RED-SHOULDERED
HAWKS continues near the Fred Meyer store in Tillamook. Two TRUMPETER
SWANS are still at Cedar Canyon Marsh west of Banks. Both SORA and
VIRGINIA RAIL are calling there as well as at other western Oregon
marshes.

A group of 7 TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS was reported from southeast Portland
February 20. They have not been verified. A BOHEMIAN WAXWING was reported
from Minto-Brown Park in Salem February 22.

The TREE SPARROW continues to be seen at Ankeny NWR south of Salem. It is
with a group of juncos in the hedges along Beuna Vista Road, west of the
railroad tracks.

RED-SHOULDERED HAWKS continue to be seen at Farmer Road near Baskett
Slough NWR, at Ankeny NWR, at the E.E. Wilson WA, and at Finley NWR. A
pair were apparently setting up a nesting territory at Whitehorse Park
near Grants Pass February 25.

During the week a BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE was inland among a flock of
gulls along Airlie Road just west of Hwy 99W in Polk County. A HARLAN'S
RED-TAILED HAWK is in the same area, and a PRAIRIE FALCON was farther
west along Tarter Road near Airlie February 23. Many TREE SWALLOWS are
now in the Willamette Valley but are concentrated at favored areas.

The 2 wintering WHITE PELICANS, a SANDHILL CRANE, and a BLACK-BELLIED
PLOVER were at Fern Ridge Reservoir west of Eugene February 22.

Thats it for this week.
