Several years ago the Wall Street Journal carried a story about the BTS's
infestation of Guam. The mongoose had been brought in in an attempt to
counteract this predator. However, my recollection is that the BTS is
nocturnal while the mongoose is diurnal, and apparently the two never got
together. At the time this story was written, it was reported that a BTS had
killed an infant in her crib at night. They get quite large and I believe
they are constrictors. Guamanians at that time were taking extra precautions
to keep them out of their homes.
