Subject: Port Townsend Bay report

This is a belated report of a 2 hour row around Port Townsend Bay on
Thursday (2/25). As usual, many species have probably been missed since
this was not primarily a birding trip. The Mew gulls, Brant, and
Red-breasted Mergansers are all greatly increased from the previous week.

In deep water

25 alternate plumage Ancient Murrelets
Common Murres (~100 mostly alternate)
Pigeon Guillemots (~100)

In shore:
Glaucous Winged gulls (hundreds)
Mew gulls (~300)
Red Breasted Mergansers (~400) all in one large flock watched over by
Bald Eagles (6)
Long Tail duck (~60)
Scoters (lots)
Cormorants (lots)
Black Turnstone(2)
Dunlin (40)
Black Oystercatcher (6)
Pacific Loon (8)
Common Loon (3)
Harlequin ducks (40)
Brant (300)
