Wouldn't an English Sparrow be a "chip" bird?.

I'm not sure, but I think my first for '98 was a House Finch. It's possible
it was one of the omnipresent American Crows I see through bleary eyes as I
cross the street most mornings to get my paper. But hey! It was New Year's
morning. Which means last night was New Year's eve. Which means my eyes were
likely blearier than usual!
