Tweets,

Four way tie - Chestnut-backed Chickadee, House Finch, Red Breasted
Nuthatch and Dark-eyed Junco - all at my feeders when I got up on New
Year's morning. What does this mean? Maybe that I'll devote 4 times as
much of my resources to birding as I did last year, when my first bird
was a crow. I'm really starting to get bird fever again, and Tweeters
has contributed greatly to this.

i have been wondering which species of bird did you see first in 1998?
was this species one of your favorites? a rare treat? or perhaps a
"french fry bird" (english sparrow)? what significance do you think
this sighting has for your new year (if you saw a french fry bird as
your first sighting, perhaps you might think this means that 1998
will be a mundane sort of year)?

sorry if this sounds silly, but i am really curious.
