Hi Tweets:

I'm sure my first bird was either a rock dove or glaucous-winged gull,
since I can't help but see them when I look out my window. However, the
first bird I looked for on purpose and identified was a ring-billed
gull.
I got cabin fever yesterday and decided to go down to the Everett boat
launch in the rain and figure out all those gulls that everyone was so
helpful about providing I.D. information about. Well, I did fine with
the ring-billed gulls and a lot of glaucous-winged gulls, and then I
started scoping out the other gulls and had convinced myself that I had
found a Thayer's gull, but the more I kept looking at the gulls the less
convinced I was and then all the gulls started looking like hybrids and
I went home.

I think this means that for yet another year I will continue to ignore
all those gulls that I can't immediately identify.
