No, the list server puts a reply-to header in the message that causes you
mail program to respond to tweeters, rather than the person posting to
tweeters.

Why does it do this? Because normally you want to respond to a thread in
public, not private, that's sorta the whole point of a mailing list.

So, if you want to respond privately you need to do so explicitly. Once
you understand this, it's easy enough to remember.
