My first bird(s) of 98 was a flock of 15+ bushtits flittering about a bush
by the house. The busy flocks always bring a sense of wonder, and it was a
nice way to start on otherwise very slow January 1st.

Tom Gronseth will no doubt speak. This mystery man is (if memory serves
correctly) the substitute list administrator when Dan Victor is vacationing.

I don't believe that the member list was intended to be a list of
mis-posted listings. It was included to show all members of tweeters and
the *total* number of posts by each. The number of posts data is very
interesting information, and has inspired a very funny (in general) thread.

The inclusion of the list with the discussion of personal messages was just
a way of reminding folks that messages posted to the list go to 600+
people. I'm sure that this was not meant to be heavy, just a reminder to
all of us. Most mailers (maybe all) allow one to specify multiple
recipients and this is a very easy way to organize small groups.

The reply to list feature is different from many lists and I think this may
be one of the things that helps make tweeters special. More of the
discussion winds up in public view where everyone can benefit from it.
