Columbia Estuary Report 1/3/97
The Lower Columbia Birders Association (with special guest appearance by
Greg Gillson) braved the cold east winds and developing winter storm to
check out Ecola State Park.
At Wireless Road we found a GREAT EGRET, NORTHERN SHRIKE and a PEREGRIN
among the gulls. Another PEREGRIN was near the theater complx in Seaside.
A good mix of ducks and 2 BALD EAGLES were at the Necannicum Estuary.
We arrived at Ecola just ahead of the sleet. HARLEQUIN DUCKS and COMMON
MURRES. At the Cannon Beach Sewage Ponds the surprise was a BLUE-WINGED TEAL
that was hanging out with a couple of NORTHERN SHOVELERS.
