Tweeters,

The Yakima Valley CBC was quite different from last year with no snow and
temperatures above 30 degrees. Like many of the other CBCs we had no
finches other than Pine Siskins.

We counted 82 species, 2 forms and 18993 total individuals.

Our top bird was one missed on the count but seen during count week - a
female Anna's Hummingbird that has been visiting a feeder in town since
about Dec. 15.

Other highlights were one Canyon Wren, a first for our CBC; one Eared Grebe,
only our second CBC record; and four Redhead, also our second CBC record.

Generally, waterfowl numbers were quite high and sparrow, blackbird and
finches were lower than usual.
