Subject: Bird ID - A BLACK Finch? - Help

Hey Tweets,

Twice today I saw a BLACK (coal/night/crow not grey!) finch or finchlike
bird at my feeder. Looked like a melanistic goldfinch. Not a Junco - I
have lots of those in all colors and got side by sides bot times. This
bird is also eating black-oil sunflower, while the juncos are at an
adjacent seed feeder. I'm an experienced birder and this one has me
stumped. Any ideas? Maybe just a mutant or morph goldfinch? I thought
I saw a small bit of light streaking on the breast, but the light was
not the best for viewing. Any ideas on making an ID would be
appreciated.
