Yakima is an older, americanized spelling. In 1994, the Yakama Nationa
requested that the spelling "Yakama" be used rather than "Yakima." -- or
so says a book i just happen to be using at the moment: _The Northwest
Salmon Crisis: A Documentary History_ ed. Joseph COne & Sandy Ridlington
(Corvallis: Oregon State University Press, 1996).
