Columbia Estuary had 53 Townsend's Warblers this year (we average about 10).
They are roaming around in big unruly flocks of 5 to 30. In my neighborhood
there is a flock of 12. Normally, one expects one or two mixed in with
kinglets and chickadees, but the mild weather has they moving around in
nearly pure flocks.
