Steve - Got the dupe slides back. Will be sending them down to
you after labelling them. All ages in the bunch.
Tweets may want to note that the supposed diagnostic "string of
pearls" mirror markings on the wing of an adult Slaty-backed
shows up much better from below when the wing is just past the
top of the upstroke arc heading downward. This way the primaries
are spread apart slightly allowing the mirror on P5 (?)
to show through and complete the ring. It has been stated that
some hybrids of the various "N. Pacific Gull" complex can also
exhibit the "string of pearls" character so caution is advised
when trying to use this feature as a diagnostic mark.
