House Finch

Anything is better than a House Sparrow or European Starling

mundane sort of year)?

None really. I'm not really superstituous about such things. However, I
usually wait until I hear a "good" bird outside my window before I look out
so I don't start the year with a starling or House Sparrow. I have thought
about going owling at 12:01 to start the year with an owl but I'm usually
lucky to stay awake until midnight!!!

Better late than never.
