One more vote to change it back. What easier way is there
for a non-hacker, like myself, to read other people's e-mail ;)
*Usually* it's something mundane but occasionally someone really
slips up and sends something embarassing.

On the serious side it's the best way to keep up on road
conditions and other things which might not seem like they're of
general interest but often are.
