Jim Ganley, Joyce Meyer, my wife Bev and I went up to Vancouver's Horseshoe
Bay to take the ferry to see the Xantus Hummingbird. It was a cold but
beautiful day and the trip alone was worth it. We weren't disappointed and
got to see the Xantus about three times over one hours time. We and about six
others got excellent looks at the beautiful bird. The home owner said they
have had about 800 visitors since the bird showed up in late Nov.

It was a three hour drive from Totem Lake to Horseshoe Bay even with heavy
traffic in BC. So leaving 3-1/2 hours ahead of either the 9:20 or 11:20am
departure times you will be okay. The ferry ride is 40 minutes. We took the
11:20 ferry, arrived at Langdale at noon, took about 1/2 hr to get to the home
where the Xantus is, watched for one hour, and had plenty of time to get back
to get the 2:30pm ferry back to Horseshoe Bay.
