I've had a Townsend's Warbler visiting my suet feeder and hanging out with
the nuthatches since January 2. I've only seen one in my yard once before, an
October visit in 1990.

Questions: Do they usually winter here? Is it commmon for them to join the
Nuthatches? To eat peanut suet? I have not seen her at the seed feeders at
all.

I can certainly recommend a new type of suet feeder being carried by the Wild
Birds Unlimited in Edmonds. It's definitely starling- and squirrel-proof, and
I've greatly increased the variety of birds using the suet feeder since I got
it. I've had a Downy WP pair for years, but suddenly have a Hairy pair
joining them, and the Flicker is regularly feeding now. Can't wait for the
Pileated to drop down! Just ask for the big square suet feeder with the metal
roof.
