I was quite surprised as well at the rabid activity at my feeders here in
Bellevue / Eastgate today, when the past few days have been relatively quiet,
and I have yet to see a flake of snow here. The chickadees, nuthatches,
juncos, song sparrows, towhees, house finches, varied thrushes, downy
woodpecker and flickers were at the feeders and in the yard ravenously feeding
helter-skelter all over the place and all day. Do these birds 'think' winter
is coming? Time may soon tell.

A side note; I took one of those short little 'power naps' this afternoon
during which I had a rather vivid dream that a Lewis's Woodpecker had taken up
residence at my feeder. Why a Lewis's Woodpecker I have absolutely no idea.
It was so real that an hour or two later after I'd kind of forgotten about the
dream, I caught myself actually 'looking' for it ...*again*, in the yard.
Even worse; in my dream I was already writing about it for posting to
Tweeters!! Oh mercy! I guess you could say the mind of a 'true tweet' never
really sleeps! I probably shouldn't be posting this; it's kind of
embarrassing ;-||
