Sightings for Monday, January 12

The YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER at 1773 El Verano on Gabriola Island was coming
regularly to a feeder throughout the day, often spending between 10 and 15
minutes at the feeder.

A possible GREAT KNOT was seen at Iona this afternoon. The bird was in the
grass near the outflow pond and was also seen in flight. Confirmation of
this sighting is requested.

The RUSTY BLACKBIRD was seen on MacDonald Rd today, near the junction with
Ferguson Rd. An Immature NORTHERN SHRIKE was on Ferguson Rd, near the
causeway. The WESTERN TANAGER was seen in N Burnaby for the 26th
consecutive day. Call 298-5490 for details. A Virginia Rail was seen at
Maplewood Flats yesterday and today

In a late report for Sunday, a Red Knot was at Crescent Beach.

Sightings for Sunday, January 11

The YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER was not relocated but the XANTHUS' HUMMINGBIRD
was. In other sightings, the YELLOW-BILLED LOON, ROCK SANDPIPER and 10
GREATER YELLOWLEGS were at Crescent Beach. The immature HARRIS' SPARROW
was reported from the stone bridge in Stanley Park and a WILLET was at the
base of the Tsawwassen Jetty. Five AMERICAN AVOCETS are still at the mouth
of the Serpentine River. The Palm Warbler was at the eastern end of Iona
Island.

Sightings for Saturday, January 10

A YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER was reported from 1773 El Verano on Gabriola
Island. The bird was first seen about a week ago. To reach this location,
take the ferry from Nanaimo then follow South road for several km before
turning onto El Verano. No 1773 is a Copy Shop.

The PALM WARBLER was at Iona and a PRAIRIE FALCON was in a field SW of 31st
Ave and 34th St. Nine shorebird species were seen at the foot of Beecher
in Crescent Beach. Of note were a RED KNOT, ROCK SANDPIPER, BLACK
TURNSTONE, KILLDEER and GREATER YELLOWLEGS. The WESTERN TANAGER was
present for the 24th consecutive day in N Burnaby.

Large numbers of SAVANNAH and LINCOLN'S SPARROWS are in a flock of sparrows
on the east side of No. 4 road 1 km south of the Steveston Highway in
Richmond.
