Randy Hill of Othello reported that 3 SNOWY OWLS were found on the Moses
Lake Christmas Bird Count on December 27. Two of the owls are fairly
regular along Road L NE, a little south and east of Moses Lake. Randy also
mentioned seeing 25 DUNLIN along the south shore of Moses Lake on January 5.

Also on January 5, Nancy LaFramboise and Ruth Fischer found a MEW GULL and
the GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE at Two Rivers Park, a GREATER YELLOWLEGS
near Clover Island, and 2 REDHEAD and 2 BARROW'S GOLDENEYES near the grain
elevator on the Kennewick riverfront. Ruth later saw the now single
Shockley Road Cattle Egret.

On January 8, Nancy LaFramboise, Ruth Fischer and I (Bob Woodley) saw 6
DUNLIN on the Yakima Delta, 10 KILLDEER on the lawn in Columbia Park, a
COMMON SNIPE near Clover Island, and a BROWN CREEPER in Two Rivers County
Park. Again Ruth found a lone CATTLE EGRET on Shockley Road - the last
reported sighting.

On January 10, Craig Corder, Judy Stevens and I observed a MERLIN and
several BARROW'S GOILDENEYES in Groves Park in Richland, a lone
GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET in the Thayer and Duluth Streets area where the Blue
Jay had been reported. The later was NOT found. We also saw 3 WESTERN
GREBES and 5 REDHEAD near the grain elevator in Kennewick and surprisingly
a young FERRUGINOUS HAWK along Highway 240 about 1 mile north of its
junction with Grosscup Road.

Also on January 10, Dennis Rockwell observed a pair of BURROWING OWLS in
the Canyon Lakes area of Kennewick in the vicinity of 4105 S Keller.
(These owls are reported to be in great danger of being displaced by
development in the next month or so. Efforts are underway to try to
provide an artificial burrow nearby.) Today, Dennis experienced a close
flyover of a PEREGRINE FALCON in Two Rivers Park.

To report your own sightings, please give your name, phone number and
sightings after the tone. Thank you.
