Michael--Have never seen a Great Knot and never thought I'd see one (are you
familiar with Ogden Nash?) but I see that Ruth will be coming up tomorrow and
I would like to add my own question about your sighting report.

We had to cancel out last weekend but are going to try this next for the
Xantus's and the eider. Had hoped to explore Iona just to see what might be
around but would appreciate more explicit directions for the knots. Can't
believe how exciting this winter has become--I had been dreading the long
