Nearly missed this short and sweet post. I zoomed down to Coulan Park this
morning and found all 10 of the mentioned WHITE-FRONTED GEESE near the beach
as advertised. I nearly passed them over at first as rocks or logs all
loosely huddled up on the the little islet opposite the beach at the base of
the foot-bridge. These birds can be viewed at very close quarters (~20 feet),
were completely oblivious to my presence, and would make for an excellent
photo opportunity (yoo-hoo, ...oh Ruth?). Mid to late morning light is
probably best if they remain where they were this morning at 10:30am. State &
King County list bird -- yea! :-)) Easiest access is from I-405 exit #5, west
to the SE corner of Lake Washington and just beyond the NE corner of Boeing.
Your map may call the park 'East Lake Washington Park', but the park is
obvious and clearly sign-posted "Coulan Park". Nice little flock. Have fun
:-))
