Dear All,

I'm requesting help for another trip to Wa in Aug & Sept of this year. We
arrive in Seattle on 24th Aug, intend to stay a few days around that area
and then head down to Ocean Shores for the rest of the trip leaving on 10th
Sept. I'm a very keen British birder who has spent a lot of time in spring
in Texas and over summer in Manitoba and fall/winter in eastern Canada.

I was last with you in 1996 and saw most of the birds that I'd been keen
on, especially thanks to Bob Kuntz who showed me 7 species of Woodpecker in
a day!

Here is a list of the species I missed:

Wandering Tattler
Rock Sandpiper
Tufted Puffin
Caliope Hummingbird
Lewis's Woodpecker
White-headed Woodpecker
Western Bluebird
Hutton's Vireo.

I guess the ones I most want to see are Caliope, the two woodpeckers,
bluebird and Hutton's Vireo. I'm pretty sure I can find the shorebirds and
puffin myself if they are in the area. If anyone knows any really good
sights for any of these in easy reach of Seattle or Ocean Shores during the
time I'm there, could you let me know.

There's a couple of other things I'm after. I missed Pygmy Owl at Rainy
Pass and never got near Spotted Owl [yes I know August is an awful month
but what can you do with school age kids] and I never got far enough south
for Hermit Warbler [I assume that will be relatively easy on the Olympic
Penninsular] Also is there anything else that reaches into the Olympic
Peninsula that doesn't get round further North [eg I've never seen Anna's
Hummingbird]

I'd be interested in getting in touch with anyone who can help with any of
these and also with anyone who has an active feeder at that time of year as
I would keen to come and photograph your birds. Grosbeaks, thrushes,
woodpeckers, hummers, pigeons etc all are welcome.

Does anyone know what the situation is with pelagics out of Westport in
late Aug-early Sept as there's a few lifers out on the Pacific for me as
well.

Look forward to hearing from you

Cheers

Colin
