Thanks to Michael D, Bob T, Kelly McA, and Irene W for their recent kingfisher
reports. The record now numbers in the hundreds, with observations extending
back more than a decade.

Begging the patience of those who have seen this request before:
I am gathering kingfisher reports to learn more about the winter and migration
status of this species in Washington. Reports should include date, location,
male/female/undetermined, and observer(s). Reports may also indicate whether
the kingfisher was 1) seen, then heard; 2) seen, not heard; 3) heard, then
seen; or 4) heard, not seen. Although I appreciate the value of "negative
data," I am not compiling reports for 5) neither seen nor heard. I encourage
birders to maintain that record, however, for sites they visit often.

Female Belted Kingfishers have a rusty "belt," which the males lack.
Both sexes have a blue breast band.
