Hi All,
After checking the range maps for Sandhill Cranes, I discovered some other
interesting tidbits. There is a flock of about4000-6000 SACR in Florida and
S. Ga. They nest in late January, early February. Amazingly enough there is
a flock in Cuba as well, thought to be about 200 birds but their status is
quite unclear. Another flock in Mississippi contains only 40-50, limited
largely to the Mississippi Sandhill Crane NWR which was established in 1974.
The Miss. flock is endangered.
Amazing these here birds, eh?
