Thanks, Mike, for the bad news. It is discouraging sometimes to attempt
"gulls" because we've never lived in a gull mecca and so the learning
curve is very flat. It feels like we are starting over every time we
set out to learn something on gulls. As we've moved around the country
we've checked out gulls on the East coast, Texas gulf coast, the
southern west coast, and now the PNW coast and it seems we have to start
over with each foray. We've often made charts with what we think will
be the distinguishing marks on the species that are allegedly present at
our target location, but the charts turn out to be unwieldily and
inadequate. I give up!
So what are the basics of herring vs. Western x G-W hybrids? Wait...
don't tell me...I gave up on gulls...
