This is the Lower Columbia Basin Audubon Society Bird Alert for January 21,

On January 14, Pat and Jerry Turnbaugh observed a VARIED THRUSH in their
Pasco yard. This species is uncommon locally this winter.

Dennis and Glenda Rockwell found one of the SNOWY OWLS reported in the last
Bird Alert along Road L NE near Moses Lake on January 17.

Also on January 17, Craig Corder, Judy Stevens, and I (Bob Woodley) birded
on the southwest side of Rattlesnake Mountain, and along Case and Bennett
Roads we found a PRAIRIE FALCON, 2 NORTHERN SHRIKES, and a single SNOW
BUNTING among thousands of Horned Larks. Also seen were a MERLIN in
Prosser, 4 LEAST SANDPIPERS along Bunn Road just south of its junction with
King Tull Road, and another PRAIRIE FALCON along Corral Creek Road just
north of the Old Inland Empire Highway. See page 38 in the DeLorme Atlas
for these locations.

On January 18, Bob Gerding (sp?) observed 46 BALD EAGLES in Sacajawea State
Park, an amazing number which includes 3 eagles on the Burbank side of the
Snake River.

Also on January 18, Dennis Rockwell relocated the HARRIS' SPARROW in Two
Rivers Park (Finley). It frequents the Nature Trail just west of the
blind. Dennis also found a MEW GULL in the parking lot at the southeast
corner of the park lagoon.

Lastly, I determined on January 20, that at least 3 HARRIS' SPARROWS remain
in Madame Dorian Park at Wallula Junction where they and numerous other
birds feed on the seed deposited by Mike and MerryLynn Denny.
