Sightings for Wednesday, January 21

A quite day locally, but some interesting out-of-town sightings. The
Yellow-throated Warbler was seen yesterday on Gabriola Island at 1773 El
Verano. A Barred Owl spent most of the day in a tree by the Burrard
Skytrain station at Burrard and Dunsmuir in downtown Vancouver. A Cooper's
Hawk with a red band was seen on Boundary Bay between 72nd and 88th. This
is likely one of the birds banded in Victoria by Andy Stewart. Please try
and read the numbers on the band if you see this bird.

In out-of-town sightings, a Crested Caracara was seen in the town of Neah
Bay. The bird was first reported on January 20 has been confirmed. Neah
Bay is the last community towards the extreme NW tip of the Olympic
peninsula in Washington. For more details, please call the Washington
Birdbox at 425-454-2662.

If you are undecided whether to fly up to Terrace to see the Hooded Oriole,
maybe this will convince you. A Brown Thrasher has been coming to a feeder
at 5204 Halliwell since November and a Black-billed Magpie has also been
seen in the town.

Sightings for Tuesday, January 20

A quite day for reports. A WESTERN SCREECH-OWL was at the north end of
Burnaby Lake. A PEREGRINE FALCON was at Marsh McCormick rd and Lefevre rd
in Glen Valley, near Fort Langley. A REDHEAD was with canvasbacks on Lost
Lagoon.

Sightings for Monday, January 19

The COMMON EIDER was in English Bay in a flock of Western Grebes. The
Immature HARRIS' SPARROW was in brambles near the Stone Bridge in Stanley
Park. A REDHEAD was with canvasbacks on Lost Lagoon.

Two CRESTED MYNAHS were in a tree south of 73rd and Angus and an AMERICAN
DIPPER was seen on a tributary of Lynn Creek north of the Premier Creek
Landfill in N Vancouver. A ROCK SANDPIPER was at the foot of Sullivan
Street in Crescent Beach and a LONG-BILLED CURLEW was at Blackie Spit.
Four AMERICAN AVOCETS are at the mouth of the Serpentine River.

For those of you that want to go on a long distance trip a HOODED ORIOLE is
still coming to a feeder at 5021 Medeek Ave in Terrace, BC.
