Hello, this is Portland Audubon Society's Rare Bird Report. This

Although large flocks of gulls remain at the Sauvie Island Pellet Plant
the SLATY-BACKED GULL was last seen January 17. Two GLAUCOUS GULLS and
five EURASIAN WIGEON are in the meadow there. Also on January 17 a dark
phased GYRFALCON was seen along Gillihan Road two miles north of the
Pellet Plant.

On January 19 an adult gray phased GYRFALCON was along Lower River Road
north of Vancouver, Washington. An immature EMPEROR GOOSE was in this
same area January 17.

The adult male BLACK DUCK continues to be seen at the boat basin at the
west end of Hood River.

Refuge personnel report that up to five (5) WHOOPER SWANS are now on the
Lower Klamath NWR. They are usually found in the Sheepy East Unit. Two
GREAT EGRETS are also on the refuge.

At the Brookings boat basin near the mouth of Chetco River on January 19
were 2-3 HEERMANN'S GULLS. On January 17 seventeen BLACK PHOEBES were
found in the Coquille Valley, south of Coos Bay. A GLAUCOUS GULL was at
the docks in Winchester Bay January 18. Another is being seen along the
Siuslaw River near Florence. Along Highway 101 north of Florence an
albino RED-TAILED HAWK and a ROSS'S GOOSE is being seen.

Two NIGHT-HERONS are now at the north end of the pond near the entrance
to the Oregon Coast Aquariam in Newport. An OLDSQUAW and nine HARLEQUIN
DUCKS are being seen along the South Jetty of Yaquina Bay.

An immature RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was along Highway 101 north of Tillamook
January 17. It is in the area near the Cheese Factory. Four GREAT EGRETS
and a male CINNAMON TEAL were at Fenk Road west of Tillamook. An OLDSQUAW
is being seen along the Astoria waterfront, and a GLAUCOUS GULL was on
Clatsop Beack January 17.

Good numbers of PINE SISKINS and VARIED THRUSHES moved into the
Willamette Valley during the week.

Among a gull flock along Highway 18 about a mile west of McMinnville last
week-end were an immature and two full adult GLAUCOUS GULLS, along with
several pure looking WESTERN GULLS.

The elusive ROSS'S GOOSE at Baskett Slough NWR west of Salem was seen
again on January 15, but not last week-end. A SNOW GOOSE is also on the
refuge. The RED-SHOULDERED HAWK along Farmer Road east of the refuge is
still being seen. Another RED-SHOULDERED was along Highway 99W south of
Monmouth, and yet another was farther south at the EE Wilson SWA.

A MOCKINGBIRD is being seen at W 11th. and Danebo in west Eugene. On
January 21 a pair of CASSIN'S FINCHES were in the same area. W 11th. is
Highway 126 to the coast. Good numbers of birds of prey have been
concentrating along Neilson Road south of Fern Ridge Reservoir. On
January 19 a RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, a PRAIRIE FALCON, and a TURKEY VULTURE
were among the more regular species. Three GREAT EGRETS were along Clear
