Subject: Belted Kingfisher

Finally I can add to the database on Washington Kingfishers in winter.

One female was perched on a power line just south of the small town
of Uniontown, Whitman County, Washington, January 21, 1998, at 1145. She
was seen but not heard (could be because I was driving past her with the
windows up). Uniontown is about 20 miles south of Pullman on US 195 (to
Lewiston). It is the first one I have seen in Washington since this thread
was started.
