Tweeters,

A Ross' Gull was found on the ice of American Falls Reservoir this past
Wednesday, January 21. It was still there today--Saturday, January
24--thanks in part to fish scraps thrown on the ice by the ice fishermen,
supplemented by suet, etc., put out by a Pocatello birder. It's an
adult--very faint pink in breast, white wedge-shaped tail, small white head
with black spot, remnant of necklace in back, black leading edge in wing,
white trailing edge. It approached both the fishermen and the birders
closer than do the larger gulls. It has a light, more tern like flight.

For directions, call the SE Idaho Rare Bird Alert--236-3337. It is at
Sportsmans Park, out of Aberdeen--take Boatdock Road east out of Aberdeen
to the park--page 29 of the DeLorme map book--page 258 of "A Birder's Guide
to Idaho." Park in the lot and walk out onto the ice straight ahead.

Good luck!
