Sorry if this message is a repeat. I haven't seen it on Tweeters yet.

Howdy Birders: On Sat. Jan 24, we birded the Kennewick, Richland area.
Highlights were: White Pelican, Krider's Red-Tailed Hawk, Merlin,
Peregrine Falcon, Burrowing Owl, Winter Wren, Hermin Thrush.
Weather was warm, (max 55F), mostly dry, with NO wind!

It was sad to see a pair of BURROWING OWLS in Kennewick that
were about to be evicted by a housing "development".

A Krider's race of the RED-TAILED HAWK was east of the Kennewick
sewage ponds. Other Birder's said it has been around for awhile.

The adult PEREGRINE FALCON was seen again. This time it was
perched in a smaller tree on Bateman Island. (Strange perch)
I'm not sure which race it is. The light aurical patch appeared white
likea tundrius, but the breast was more buffy like an anatum. The
bird seemed large, so female?

Also while on Bateman Island, we found several BEWICK'S WRENS,
a HERMIT THRUSH, a MERLIN, 3 WHITE PELICANS, a hybrid
WESTERN/GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL & a MARSH WREN.

In the Audubon Nature Area of Columbia Park, we found a
WINTER WREN, but could not relocate the White-throated &
Golden-cr Sparrows that others found on Thursday.

We unsuccessfully searched for a reported (by a non-birder)
Blue Jay in Richland. We did find a "pure" male YELLOW-
SHAFTED race of NORTHERN FLICKER. Another MERLIN flew by.
Evidently no Bohemian Waxwings around this "winter".

Good Birding,
Craig (YL=86)
