Rob,

Hutton's Vireo and Western Wood-Pewee have one
vocalization that can be confused. For the pewee, its a call
that's not the typical one in the book, i.e. the long "peeeeer".
Instead, its a short rising note, repeated monotonously
between short pauses, that has "pewee quality". It is similar
to a typical singing Hutton's in that it is short and rising and
somewhat buzzy and is repeated at about the same
cadence. I have known people to mistake this pewee call for
a Hutton's, but you are considering the opposite so it seems
unlikely. Something to consider though as Huttons should
be starting to sing about now.

Hi Tweets,

heard what I would swear was a western wood peewee this
morning. Seems way
early, anybody have a thought as to the possibility? Any
other
possibilities I should be considering? Thanks...
