Subject: Chris Chappell's enquiry: low-lying Gray Jays

Should have said in the original response: the Gray Jays seen in the
Markworth Forest this past August were in an extensive area of
c.10-year-old clearcut, with mixed deciduous and conifer regrowth, nothing
higher than c.5', mostly c.3', which is why I was surprised to find them
there. The Markworth Forest alternates this kind of habitat with mixed
second-growth forest in varying stages of maturity. None of it what you'd
think of as Gray Jay habitat - but the area isn't that far SW of Sultan and
plenty of more characteristic habitat.
