Judy Mullally and I went out yesterday and got good views of the CARACARA.
The last was down on the beach very close to us picking at a gull carcass
surrounded by crows who harassed it. One crow even stepped up behind and
pulled at his tail. The CARACARA didn't even seem to notice. Another time it
was out on a post picking at a birdwing.
Ruth and Patrick Sullivan were there. The last I saw them, Ruth wanted
still better views (what else is new?). They had seen a SURFBIRD east of Neah
Bay and a RUDDY DUCK (sparse anywhere in Clallam Co.) but Judy and I saw
nothing out of the ordinary except more BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS than I've ever
seen in Neah Bay. The Sullivans had even more OYSTERCATCHERS than we did.
Ruth, let me know how many OYSTERCATCHERS did you have? What else did you have
that was good for my database on the North Olympic?
