Michael Price <mprice at mindlink.net> responded to several of my
duckie questions thusly;

"Ususally cat-napping when I see them do it, Deborah: a quick flash of open
eye, quick as a camera shutter, then doze for a few seconds. Could it also
be that they have lateral rows of pressure-sensitive cells along their
sides, like fish?"

hrm. i wish i could do this, too: it would save me from the
pain of crashing into parking meters while reading books as
i walk down the ave.
