----------Last Sunday.......the sun was shining and the temps. was
75'-80'........So what did I do????? Visit Ridgefield NWLR...south
section. Here's what I saw:

Song Sparrow
House Wrens
Savannah Sparrows
MacGillivray's Warbler
Am. Goldfinches
Common Yellowthroats(a pair)
Common Snipes(several)
Red-headed Blackbirds
Bewicks Wren
Marsh Wren
House Finches
Belted Kingfishers
Western Wood Peewee
Great Egret(1 at Rest Lake)
Trumpeter Swan( 1 at Rest Lake.....What it was doing there out of
season, and out of normal range for this time of year is a good
question!!!!)
Bald Eagle(1)
Scrub Jays
Zillions of Great Blue Herons
Harrier Hawk
Killdeer(quite a few)
.......and 3 species of dipping ducks(Cinnamon Teal included)
.......Also spotted 1 sparrow-sized gray and white bird flittering
around...eating insects. My guess is a species of Flycatcher, though
what I saw didn't match any flycatcher pictures in the bird manual(RNWL
Refuge guide mentions as being 'common' a Pacific-slope Flycatcher which
is not in my bird manual. Guess I'll have to Thayer's CD-ROM to see if
they list it.
........Also saw plenty of swallows--Barn Swallows, and Tree Swallows
mainly, with some Cliff Swallows,....and 1 Rough-winged Swallow. Plus, a
number of 'more common' birds I won't list.
......Also. the S.E. corner of the refuge is off-limits to entry because
this section is a Bald Eagle nesting area.

----------Good day to all, and may the sun also shine on you all
sorts of good things on these 'lazy, hazy days of summer'.!!!!!
